Wallop's tried and tested formula of songs and sketches written round a theme with a fish and chip supper came up trumps again with writers and directors Janet and Will Harris' subject being the Olympic Games.

Sections such as Getting Ready for the Games, Training, Welcoming the Athletes and so on  were held together by comic chat from Laurie Bright and Rosemary Minchin as Liza and Mabel - two cleaners working in the Olympic offices.

A wide variety of relevant songs were chosen to illustrate these scenes with some excellent choreography from Joanna Morrison delivered by the Southwest Gangshow Dancers.

Bob the Builder came to help build the Olympic Stadium with Norman Grinsteed in fine voice. Hope of winning gave us Jacky Cook's Dream the Impossible Dream and Celena Bain's melodious Wind Beneath My Wings. Musical Director Rob Randall's vocalised He Ain't Heavy as well as conducting his admirable band. Clare Allsop was the injured athlete who Dreamed a Dream. Athletes arrived, giving an opportunity for cheerlearders Crystal Intensity to strut their stuff. As the Games started, the Dressage revealed two agile pantomime horses and the rowing discipline was set to the Eton Boat Song. Inevitably, We Are The Champions heralded a medal ceremony and the finale, with glittering cast, brought songs with 'gold' in the title.
